Authentication method: These are various methods used to verify that you are the owner of the account you are trying to access.STARTTLS: The connection starts as unencrypted, but attempts to make a secure connection if the server supports it.SSL/TLS: (Recommended when possible) The connection is encrypted.Connection Security: These settings determine if your connection to the server is encrypted.Your user name is provided by your mail provider. User Name: When contacting the server for new messages, the user name identifies which account you are retrieving messages for.The name and port number are provided by your mail provider. Server Name and Port: This is the server Thunderbird will connect to when retrieving messages for your account.Server Type: This setting is determined at the time the account is created.For more information, see Using Identities.
